It’s no secret we love to “paint it white” when it comes to home exteriors. However, we don’t discriminate and appreciate many different style homes, but our hearts always are always immediately drawn to traditional. But no matter the style, accessorizing the exterior (particularly the entry) is a necessary step in creating a finished and thought-through exterior design.
Your home’s entry should feel warm and inviting as it is the first representation of your home when approaching it. There is a relatively fine line between including what’s needed to accentuate the home and over-cluttering it.
We love to paint porch ceilings a “Haint Blue” – not only does it create airiness and dimension, it’s fun playing into the Southern tale that says the blue wards off spirits (and even bugs and birds).
For a touch of chinoiserie and added color, we included a garden stool. While it is a pretty little place to perch it primarily is there for form and function. What better spot to set packages or keys when your hands are full arriving home? Paired with a simple doormat, the porch feels complete but not overcrowded.
The exterior lighting is a key component in making a home cohesive. We love these refined lanterns and sconces by Visual Comfort.
