Something that we have always tried to abide by is the motto “use your china.” Everything within your home should be used and appreciated and never off limits, including china. One way to ensure that’s easy to do is placing it somewhere accessible. Displaying your precious collections is a win win, you’re able to see and enjoy it and you’re that much more likely to get use out of it when it’s within reach!
There are no rules when it comes to styling as it’s such a personal aspect of a home. A china cabinet is a beautiful way to display collections as well as store pieces in a functional way. As can be true for many aspects of styling a home, we love to layer and add dimension to a china cabinet. The best way to do this is by mixing of styling and storage strategies. Some of our collection will be stacked for functionality while others are displayed upright with acrylic stands. We also add in acrylic risers for smaller pieces that need a little added height in order to be visible.
As mentioned above, there are no hard and fast rules. We like to mix different collections and pieces. There’s no better way to make a space feel personal than showcasing an entire collection. A china cabinet can be as formal as informal as you like and we always like to have a combination. Adding in some heirloom pieces as well as silver breaks up the repetition of one singular china pattern and adds visual interest.
Last and most importantly, the best thing about styling a china cabinet is it can be tweaked and re-styled as much as you desire! Half of the fun is getting to use your pieces and shifting pieces when you want to change up the space to achieve a fresh look.
