We have been avid Schitt’s Creek fans since its 2015 premiere, but given the current circumstances, we have upped our binge-watching and successfully completed all six seasons (in record time).
Season after season we have seen the Rose family living at the Rosebud Motel destitute of any inspiring design (despite minor attempts made by the family here and there) and we found ourselves imagining how each character would likely be living if given the freedom to design their dream spaces.
We’ve paired our favorite TV family with an interior designer all their own, who we feel would work well together given their {imaginary] aesthetics.
We imagine Moira would recruit none other than Mario Buatta to assist in bringing to life a Fortuny and Brunschwig & Fils filled palace. We all know Moira would spare no expense in order to achieve a larger-than-life place to call home and we think Buatta would be up for the task. It’s safe to assume her charismatic personality would certainly lend itself to the creation of a space comprised of chic opulence..and yes, we see the irony there..
When envisioning Alexis’s space we immediately thought of a Kelly Wearstler type aesthetic. Alexis can be described as what we would coin as “worldy whimsical.” While Alexis is slightly less extravagant than Moira, she is no less fabulous. Think edgy with hints of glamour meets “California-cool”..that makes sense, right?
For David, we sourced inspiration images of spaces designed by Steven Gambrel for his imaginary abode. Two words come to mind when we think of David: bold and chic. While David’s ensembles consist of primarily black and white, we like to think he would bring a touch more warmth and color his surroundings at home.
We feel as though Johnny would work well with interior designer, Michael Smith. Smith, who designed the residential quarters at the White House for the Obama’s during their administration would appeal to Johnny’s “elevated Americana” aesthetic, or so we like to think.
And what would be the point in designing a place for the cast to live if we left out the two places they frequent most? The diner has such life to it that we instantly thought of this Degournay dream space.
As far as the motel goes, let’s face it, it is in dire need of a full renovation, read: gut job. With as much time as our beloved Stevie spends there, it would be simply cruel to leave it out of our {imaginary} plans. We recruited Jacques Garcia, who we think is just the man for the job. Garcia restore Manhattan’s Nomad Hotel and The Rosebud hotel could use his magic touch to say the least.
